The 2016 Nazarè Pro saw Frenchman Pierre Louis Costes crowned today as riders endured a day of solid but punishing conditions at Praia do Norte, in Nazaré.

Pierre showed his serious about winning the world title dominating his heats all the way to the final.

“For me, Nazaré is the definition of high performance bodyboarding’, said Pierre. “I believe that Praia do Norte is the best beach-break in the world, and to win an event like this just feels amazing,” he added.

Pierre threw down some last minute heroics in the 30 minute final, overpowering Dave Hubbard (Oahu, Hawaii). Pierre posted an excellent 8.25 wave score (out of a possible ten points) for a chain of impressive moves to sneak in front of Dubb and claim the title.

“I want to go to Fronton, which is one of my favourite waves in the world to chase the title, not trying to do anything else. All I want to do is win the event and beat the best bodyboarder’s in the world, its my job” he chuckled.

The Men’s podium final saw an exciting duel with Iain Campbell going full throttle in an attempt to nudge closer to his maiden title. Jeff Hubbard (Hawaii) dominated the first half of the heat but Campbell blazed home with an 8.50 & 9.00 average to finish third & Jeff Hubbard fourth.

The extra 800 points that Iain Campbell collected by winning the podium final was enough to keep him in the ratings lead going into the final event of the season.
